£3900 – Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Comp Mountain Bike 2021

Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Comp Mountain Bike Developed to meet the needs of the world's most progressive trail riders, the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Comp Mountain Bike oozes stability and confidence on even the rowdiest of trails. Its predecessor was an animal – super slack, long, unbelievably planted, and designed to push the envelope for what was possible on a mid-travel bike. Building on this already successful chassis Specialized has taken the EVO platform to new heights with this latest revision, adding on-trail versatility and refined suspension kinematics for superior ride character.  Featuring the same 11m carbon construction as seen on the S-Works frame, the EVO Comp frameset is tricked out with all the same high-end features found on the flagship model. Improved SWAT™ storage sees added space, and an included 22 fluid ounce water reservoir allows for longer, backpack-free rides. Headlining the new features is the increased levels of adjustability found on the EVO frameset, with eccentric headset cups and chainstay-mounted flip-chips giving a game-changing 2.5 degrees of head angle adjustment. With six geometry configurations on offer, there is a setting for all riders, allowing you to match the EVO to your local terrain whether alpine steeps or rolling trail-centre.  Channelling the kinematics of their game-changing long travel Demo and Enduro models, Specialized has revamped the EVO’s suspension to be more confidence-inspiring than ever. The 150mm of rear travel on offer feels bottomless, blending impressive small-bump performance with a progressive ramp as the bike flows through its travel. This offers glue-like grip on even the jankiest of trails, whilst still offering travel in reserve for larger impacts. Improvements to the suspension design see a more rearward axle path introduced, allowing the EVO’s rear wheel to move backwards and out of the way of big hits. This reduces hang-up on square-edge hits, keeping the bike pushing through rough trails.  29-inch wheels are seen throughout this latest Stumpjumper lineup, providing proven speed through technical trail sections. To bring the EVO experience to a wider audience, Specialized has specified the EVO Comp with a burly, wallet-friendly parts specification. The tough aluminium Roval wheelset is tubeless-ready out of the box and built to take the hits, and the 12-speed Shimano SLX groupset provides slick shifting and precise stopping power with its four-piston calipers. FOX take care of the suspension front and rear, with the FLOAT 36 Rhythm fork providing 160mm of consistent, controlled travel.
